Readers will pleased to know that Minjup is home to the Splendid Fairy-Wren (
Malurus splendens). Being now of an age when the powers that be allow me to travel free on public transport, and not being used to same — or else, because of the mentioned age, I’m getting a bit dotty — I managed to get off the bus some 5km north of home and had to leg it. (The Minjup bus only comes twice, only on Wednesdays, and only when there’s an R in the month. Bit like someone I know.) Right where the town boundary is signed, there was
Malurus splendens ... squashed into the bitumen.
