Sledge's Three Types of Melodrama

We've been doing melodrama for the film unit this week.
After watching several, I've decided there are three types -- or "sub-genres" as I've learned to call them -- and they all have to do with tears:

1. Those that move you to tears
2. Those that bore you to tears
3. Those that cause the tears to run down your leg
