Tuesday always starts late owing to the fact that the Times crossword in the Oz is actually from an earlier Saturday.
In this case: Times 24,024 from Saturday 20th September.
The Saturday puzzle in the allegedly united kingdom is routinely a toughie as it's a competition number.
Some great clues though.
Like: "Who can rule maniacally over Turks? This islander! (10)" which yields "Mad-agas-can".
Some other odd words in here, such as "Chambertin", "Suffolk Punch" and "Valpolicella".
Felt privileged, but, when I got to 12 across: "Tool with blade hard to smuggle into jail (12)".
Leaving this one to my dear readers to solve ... but this link will help if you can't.
It's written by a gal called Sotira.
Perhaps because of her avatar (below) I imagine her as a totally gorgeous blonde ... and the fact that she writes a crossword blog suggests she could be my line of work.

In fact, "she" is probably a middle-aged, unshaven bricklayer in a pink frilly nightie.
Who knows these days?
