More monstrosities
Woke early to the beeping of a truck reversing down the alley behind Room 62.
I'd parked the ute there overnight for safe keeping.
Sign said "Hotel Guest Parking Only", so I'd figured I was safe.
But this truck, labelled "Oil-2-Go", was precariously close to the ute and perhaps a half centimetre away from taking the duco off the back end.
I hailed the ill-met Oil-2-Go fellow from my window and suggested I move the ute so he could safely back down the alley to pick up the used cooking oil drums.
Did so accordingly and -- after exchanges of pleasantries with the apparently good chap -- packed and left.
When we got to Coolgardie for a refuel, I noticed something wrong with the driver's side mirror.
Oil-2-Go bastard-girl's-part had hit it on his first attempt at a way in and left it scratched away to buggery.
If I'm ever back in Kal, which I seriously doubt, I'll look him up and contrive suitable vengeance -- perhaps I'll take him to The Tower for dinner.
Good enough for Anne Boleyn, good enough for him.
((Memo to self: update the double-entry ledger -- see blog entry for 4th August.))
Not much to say about the trip home.
Scrub, more scrub, lots more scrub, O'Connor's famous water pipeline (GRHS -- at least the showers worked), lots of bugger all, a railway that never gets used so they can keep all the monsters on the road to annoy people whose vehicles can actually go 110 kph, still more bugger all, then a few wheatfields, bugger all again, few-and-far-between non-places with names like Bungyanobbin, scrub, bugger all....
Worth a second stop at Meckering though.
The monster earthquake that went through there 40 years ago left some serious damage.
You might need to click on this one to read the details.

Here's me taking a much needed kip-on-the-trip on what happened to the railway tracks.

You'll also get a cheery welcome and a great sandwich (if you ask for a fresh one) at the Shell roadhouse, as I've suggested already.
Well worth a stop.
And for photographers, there's always this:

"Camera" means "chamber" (room?).
In the land of monsters, it can become a whole building.
(Ute parked out front for sense of scale.)
