Fire

The Europeans, it seems, have very little idea of Australia.
They may think of Paris to Moscow as a hell of a long way (unless they also think they're Napoleon).
But Victoria to WA may as well be a trip to the supermercato.
Hence a call from the Euro-rellies on Sunday evening asking whether I'd been affected by the bush fires.

Having told them that the nearest a bush fire had ever come to Minjup was 8k away up in the hills near Millbrook which still have remnants of real bush, guess what happened on Sunday night/Monday morning?
Bugger me if some stupid procreative organ hadn't set fire to the Minjup Reserve.
Burned out all 15 hectares.
This is a nice spot I often go to to have a look around.
It inspires ideas for planting because a local enthusiast has (had?) returned it to its natural state using only trees and shrubs originally local to the area.

Although my New Year's resolution was to give up superstition (since it only brings bad luck), I still think it unwise to speak in advance about the impossibility of misfortune.
