Weekend Australian, Sunday Times 622
Going through Dot's absurdities one by one is boring the knickers off me. The whole point of blogging this so-called puzzle in the first place was to somewhat undermine the Oz's credibility as a publisher of crosswords. The Times-for-the-Times bloggers have a healthy respect for their Saturday competition puzzle and don't blog it until after entries close. I have no such respect; and can't see why any half self-respecting cruciverbalist would. Especially after last week's fiasco with the missing clues. Apparently they published the clues in the Monday Oz; but that was a public holiday and the papers didn't arrive. At least not here in Minjup. Today's edition has an apology and publishes the four clues. Looks like my guesses were on the money -- or the dictionary. The error, they tell us, was "in material supplied". By whom? The setter? Was it Dot's fault? If so, or even if not, all the more reason to employ a crossword editor. We all need to write and complain about this pox on our weekends. So ... to the point. Being fed up with explanations of the mentally defective setter's whims, here are the answers: stand-alone except for one which I had to check on the map. Feel free to mail me if you would like further comment.
