Looks like I was right.
The temp is below 20C today, so a pretty shitty shower and shave.
While I was in there, there was a prog on the radio about proposed tax reforms.
One good thing would be to reduce the taxes on eco-friendly stuff like ... you guessed it ... solar water heating.
There's a bit of a rebate you can get if you do the right thing and replace an electric system with solar.
I didn't get it because I was replacing the standard country-Oz method of hot water heating: the wood-fuelled boiler know as the "Braemar".
These things burn trees and pollute the atmosphere but you don't get a rebate for getting rid of them.
Another eco-type reform would be to change the rules on Fringe Benefits Tax on cars that are salary packaged.
The deal here is you budget for X kilometres and if you're below X at the end of the year, you have to pay FBT.
This leads to people driving thousands of gratuitous ks so as not to incur the tax, burning expensive petrol, making yet another mess of the atmosphere and ensuring their vehicles don't last as long as they should.
Madness, when they should be getting a tax reward for being under budget.
Good job we have a green-minded Minister for the Environment!
