Been thinking through how to appear super intelligent if that Prof turns up again.
Might even wheedle my way back into SOC 100 next semester.
Thought initially of this as an intro:
"True intelligence is the capacity to distinguish between true intelligence and the feigned variety".
Probably won't wash though, for reasons I can't quite work out.

Jugs.
(A much more interesting topic, don't you think?)
I'm told by those who know that you can boil water by plugging one such into an outlet.
(A survey I once did asked me how many "outlets" I'd had in the last month -- no idea what that was all about.)
What I do is throw some wood in the range, light it with a bit of Shellite, and stick my cast-iron kettle on.
Seems to work.
When it starts to lose colour -- usually after a month or so -- I have this amazing stuff to bring it back to its original.
It's called "Kettle Black".
I recommend it.
And I use it on my cast-iron pots too.
They look wonderful.

Over the weekend, I had some younger visitors who wanted to make popcorn.
They said I should put it in the microwave.
Twitched my arthritic little finger -- but they didn't get the joke.
So I just put the stuff in one of said cast-iron pots on the range with a bit of cooking oil.
Worked a treat, except that some of the recently-used colour came off in the process.

Another case of the popcorn in the Kettle Black?
