The garden this morning is full of little flocks of Brown-headed Honeyeaters (Melithreptus brevirostris) coming and going, looking for the remaining winter flowers in the trees and shrubs.
They think they can hover like hummingbirds or Qld Sunbirds (Nectarinia jugularis) but can't quite.
But they do an excellent job.
Pizzey and Knight (Field Guide to the Birds of Australia) put it beautifully:
"Works sittella-like over limbs, foliage, hanging acrobatically, fluttering, always moving".
Poetry!
