Also while up in the smoke last weekend, I attended a class in Film 101 -- hence my earlier reasons for watching "serious" films.
For The University in its wisdom has allowed me back in despite my abject failure in Sociology.
This week, we had to watch Blade Runner.
Apart from being too long, I really enjoyed this one.
The thing I don't get is that the "hero" (Harrison Ford) was boring as Good Friday, which was a downer after I was expecting another Han Solo or Indiana Jones, while Rutger Hauer was incredibly interesting.
He smiled and made jokes and seemed to be able to relate to at least one woman without too much trouble; while I was expecting the usual wooden trash like he did in Salute of the Jugger -- shot, I might add, in Coober Pedy -- so bad he made Joan Chen look good.
A hard thing to achieve, I think you'll agree.
But Ford was the human while Hauer was the replicant-android-thingy.
I sure hope my tutor can explain this come Friday.
Or else I might have to drop out and go back to my usual faves like Barb Wire, Tank Girl and anything with Audrey in it.
Surely things can't be this hard?
