And I came top of the class in 101 !!
((!! -- couple more just for the sake of it.))
Part of it had to do with having a head start: I sent in my storyboard for Sex and the Country.
And they said I had "natural talent as a Faux Naïf".
Whatever that is.
Maybe it's a new school of filmmaking?
The Minjup Faux Naïf School?
The other part of it was due to the Prof giving me a few tips from his Cultural Studies studies.
(He has a very bad stutter.)
Apparently those guys are into film as well.
The third part is my habit of listening to Julie Rigg on RN.
She makes film come alive on radio with that voice.
I want her to whisper to me about her favourite film on my deathbed.
And I shall die happy.
If you can do film on radio, essays should be a piece of piss.
And anyway, I'm now officially a Faux Naïf.
The prize for best grades in 101?: trip to Brisbane for a student film conference starting on Wednesday.
Bags are being packed (almost) as I write.
Have to leave tomorrow.
They don't give you a lot of time.
If they have a net connection in Brisbane -- last I heard, Brisbane was a fish and chip shop -- I'll report.
If not, please forgive the brief silence.
Oh ... and ... yeh ... I had to send them a photo for my conference ID.
Used PhotoBooth on the MacBook.
Put my glasses on to look like an intellectual.
It's crap, but here it is:
As I said: Faux Naïf ... ou quoi?Sledge
