Watching a TV show last night about a street-hardened FBI agent with a well-concealed heart of gold.
Reminded me of some of Elmore Leonard's characters.
I had a vague feeling I'd seen the main character before: thin, grey-sick-looking, shades on most of the time, obviously unfit and probably unwell.
Like someone from the past who suddenly got older.
Then, in the final credits: "In memoriam, Patrick Swayze, 1952-2009".
That really gets you thinking.
