Made a visit today to Westham City.
This isn't a city; it's a shopping centre -- actually a shopping periphery -- between here and the city -- about 15k away.
30k round trip for groceries, etc.
Coming back along Minjup Road, headed east with the sun behind me, it started to pour.
Raining like buggery but the sun was still out and, at about 3:30, the shadows were still cast by the tall gums along the road.
The ute doing 110 in and out of those shadows.
And then ahead, to the east, over the hills where a penguin was once seen, a rainbow, as big and bright as one could possibly be, just appeared.
Like that, but augmented by the grey sky to the east and the polaroids.
I swear I saw its end in a paddock just coming into town.
I swear I saw it.
Then it vanished, as the Beowulf poet would say, Swa hit no wær.
No reason not to believe that the scop was Norwegian.
After all, the monsters and the critics have no idea.

If you weigh a whale at a whale-weigh station, where do you weigh a pie?
